ANKA is the first North American monoecious industrial hemp variety, with excellent adaptability to all soil types and climatic conditions. The very good growth extends its growing area from Eastern to Western Canada. It can be grown in all Canadian provinces, as far North as 50th latitude producing excellent grain yields with high grain quality. In optimum growing conditions, ANKA may be considered for a dual-purpose harvest variety (grain and post harvest straw for fibre). Nearly every plant is seed bearing (>10% male). Recommended seeding rate at 25#/a at good germination. ANKA is an exceptional combination of desired nutritional quality of grain and outstanding yields. It develops a large, compact seed head with short, upright branches, which usually covers over 1/3 of the plant height. The stems are shorter, averaging 180cm to 200 cm in length. ANKA seed contains a wide spectrum of essential amino acids and fatty acids, including high levels of gamma linolenic acid (GLA = 2.8 to 3.3%). This makes it suitable for many cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Under normal environmental conditions the THC levels should be less than 0.1%. ANKA was registered with the Canadian Seed Growers' Association in 1998 as first North American monoecious hemp grain/fibre variety. ANKA is commercially available now in sufficient quantities of Certified seed to supply your seeding needs from:
