Hemp on the Kojo Namdi show on WAMU
On February 28th, the Kojo Namdi show on WAMU, a Washington-DC based NPR affiliate had an hour long feature on hemp. Guests included Alexis Baden-Meyer (VoteHemp), Gero Leson (Leson & Associates), Ian Low (Hemcore, UK ) and Ruth Shamai (Ruth’s Hemp Foods). This was a very well put together show and has a lot of information about the opportunities in the industry, the changing US situation, and also had some reasonable discussion about hemp’s pros and cons.   • Partnership between universities of Guelph, Waterloo, and Toronto.
  • Development of Industrial Crop Development Centre. Already committed $2 million from Ont. Ag Industry.

DEA Must Pay Hemp Industry Plaintiff's Legal Bills, Court Rules
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) must reimburse Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps more than $20,000 in legal bills the company accrued as it financed the Hemp Industry Association's (HIA) effort to overturn DEA attempts to ban the sale of foods containing hemp products.

2003 Hemp Report
Six early to medium maturing hemp cultivars were grown at the Melfort Research Farm, Melfort, SK, in 2003, in co-operation with the Saskatchewan Hemp Association and Hemp Oil Canada Inc.
Included were Anka, Fasamo, Finola, Crag, USO 14, and USO 31.

The Annual General Meeting of the Ontario Hemp Alliance
was held Saturday, January 24, 2004 at the Guelph University Centre.
The guest speaker was Julien Den Tandt, Managing Adversities in a New Industry.
Minutes and further comments of the meeting will be posted in the Members Section in a couple of weeks.

One discussion that is of immediate importance to everyone relates to Genetic Engineering and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)
The Ontario Hemp Alliance will not support any research and is opposed to any activities involving the genetic engineering of any variety of Cannabis Sativa - this includes all industrial hemp and "marijuana" cultivars.

The Ontario Hemp Alliance hosted a booth at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair from Nov 8 to Nov 17, 2002.
The OHA was able to proudly showcase their new display put together by David Marcus and his team from Natural Emphasis. Our members were able to sell and showcase their products and raise public awareness of hemp's uses and benefits to some 300,000 people in attendance. Our thanks go to Spirits Stream, Ruth's Hemp Food, Fast Fuel, Cool Hemp and all the volunteers for making this show a success.
