The Ontario Hemp Alliance (OHA) was founded when a group of hemp growers, processors and manufacturers realized the great potential of producing and marketing hemp. They began in 1998 with a series of meetings, which resulted in the formation of an association that would recognize and meet the needs of this young and evolving industry. The mandate and membership reflects the broad interest in hemp from all sectors of the economy.

OHA VISION

  • to raise public awareness of hemp's uses and benefits
  • to facilitate analysis and development of markets for hemp products
  • to facilitate research and development of hemp based processes and products
  • to promote the sharing of information and interaction between members
  • to act as a lobbyist for the hemp industry

OHA MANDATE

The Ontario Hemp Alliance is a membership driven organization dedicated to the development of a viable, vertically integrated hemp industry in Ontario. The OHA mandate and membership reflects the broad interest in hemp from all sectors of the economy.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

The Ontario Hemp Report
Our newsletter, the Ontario Hemp Report, highlights the innovations and advances in the industry as well as keeping members connected. Articles from industry experts, industrial hemp contacts, recipes as well as the latest from Ontario's hemp companies, printed on hemp paper ready to sit and read or hand out to prospective customers. Our most recent addition to our publications includes a listing of where to buy hemp (an ever-popular question.)

An Elected Board of Directors
The Annual Meeting, held in September, invites the entire general membership to elect their board of directors. Directors come from the membership. The duty of the board is to uphold the OHA's mandate through the established by-laws and ensure that the memberships' needs are met and concerns are addressed.

Interesting Meetings
The Board of Directors meets at least bi-monthly to direct the activities of the Ontario Hemp Alliance as well as to share recent findings or hear presentations by esteemed national and international researchers. All members are welcome at all meetings to share in this cutting edge information.

Automatic Membership to CHTA
Joining the OHA includes membership in the national body, The Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance.
